(All
tasks undertaken by this position will always be under the
direction of the client, AccuFile Librarian or Library
Assistant.)
Responsibilities
to include:
Open
and process all incoming mail- sort mail
by categories such as solicitations, new books received
(set aside for log-in procedures), report letters (for
updating by library clerk), periodicals for routing,
etc.
Log
in new materials when received - Within AccuFile
libraries a kardex or notebook system is to be used.
A client may have an established automated log-in system;
the library assistant will also be responsible for this
area.
Shelve
incoming materials - Any new titles received,
replacement volumes, volumes replacing pamphlets, etc.
Routing
of periodicals and resource summaries - route
materials based on an established system for periodicals
and summaries of materials to be filed.
Retrieve
and provide copies of materials to library patrons from
simple reference requests - only when citation
is given.
Relay
complex reference questions to Head Librarian or Reference
Librarian.
Renew
library books from Social Law (if applicable) or assist
in interlibrary loan process.
Maintain
library tables and workspaces in good order.
