Responsibilities to include:

Maintenance:

  • Book selection/collection evaluation - advising clients on acquisition of titles regarding practice areas, upon request.  Circulating advertisements to individual attorneys based on their specific practice areas.

  • Track and maintain trial offers from publishers - then either return to publisher or retain within firm.

  • Acquisition paperwork - order processing and follow up.

  • Receiving and logging new materials - log into a kardex system, notebook system or automated program as provided by client.

  • Providing fiscal data/cost analysis - annual expenditures for the library.

  • Routing periodicals and resource summaries - Establishing and/or maintain a routing system of various periodicals and summaries of updates to be filed.

  • Re-shelving - re-shelve all titles within the library area.

  • Invoice processing - approve invoices of titles received and forward to appropriate individuals for payment.  Handle any invoicing problems that arise from a publisher.

  • Organize loose-leaf filing - set aside for AccuFile filing staff.

  • Training of loose-leaf filers - on occasion, new filers training.

Value Added Services:

  • Orientation to the firm/client library, its resources and collections.

  • Training/tips in legal research; print, CD-ROM and on-line and the interface among them.

  • Training in use for specific loose-leaf services owned by firm law library or having the vendor provide the same.

  • Information on services available to attorneys from publishers and/or new developments.

  • Use of firm e-mail, if desired to inform attorneys of new acquisitions, library and firm policies for purchase of new materials, training sessions, routing awareness circulation, etc.

  • Document delivery and reference services as requested by staff.

  • Assist management with plans for firm growth as it relates to the law library; space planning, technology, collection decisions/strategy, budget allocations, etc.
